Saturday Good MarketThere is no Saturday Good Market on June 24th due to a booking conflict.
Good Market pays to use the car park behind the Ministry of Sports building every Saturday. The team coordinates closely with UDA and the Racecourse management and has successfully held weekly events at this venue for more than 4 years...even during all-day international rugby matches. This Saturday, the Racecourse grounds are booked for an event that starts at 6:30 in the evening. The Racecourse management didn't expect this to be an issue because the event starts at 6:30 pm, the space near the grounds is available during the day, and the Good Market has a history of coordinating with rugby events. The corporate sponsor MILO Sri Lanka / Nestlé Lanka informed Thursday that they need the Good Market space during the day to set up their sign boards and equipment for the evening event. Good Market also pays for the space, but not as much as corporate sponsors. The team spent all day trying to work out a compromise, but no luck. Many rural farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs count on the Saturday Good Market event for their livelihoods. Last minute cancellations are particularly damaging because arrangements and payments have already been made. Two new vendors were getting ready to join this week and Embark was planning a puppy adoption day. If you arranged to meet with a vendor to pick up an order, you are welcome to coordinate pick up or meetings at the Good Market shop across the street. The shop is open from 8 am to 8 pm across the street from the Colombo Racecourse in the Lakpahana Courtyard. The shop team is coordinating with vendors to increase the supply of organic fruits and vegetables for this Saturday. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience, and we will be working with UDA to make sure this kind of problem does not happen again in the future. Comments are closed.
